Kendra Penland

Communications Director

Kendra Penland, North Carolina native and lifelong adventurer, is a proud mom of two boys, a rescue dog owner, a musician, athlete, and community justice advocate who has been enthusiastically and effectively telling the stories of small businesses and nonprofits for over 20 years. Having lived and traveled extensively overseas, Kendra speaks several languages and enjoys exploring other cultures. She received both her B.A. in Spanish and Communications and Masters in Public Affairs from Western Carolina University. She has called Asheville home for 18 years, and is excited to put her extensive experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, and relationship-building to use to support Throwing Bones, its vital mission, and the community it serves.
