CINDY WILKERSON

Cindy Wilkerson is the Assistant Director of Throwing Bones. After spending the majority of her career in many facets of education, Cindy’s passion for helping others landed her in the nonprofit world.  

Her connection to Throwing Bones began over 30 years ago, when she met founder Kenny Capps in college. Her journey with cancer began in 2016 when her late husband, Kirk, was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. Kenny and Cindy reconnected in 2018 and then collaborated to host the first Not-A-Sprint weekend in 2021. Seeing how Throwing Bones was working to empower cancer patients and knowing first-hand the difference it could make, spurred her to take on the role of assistant director.  

Cindy holds an M.Ed. from Western Carolina University and is mom to four amazing kids. When she is not creating spreadsheets, organizing events, or working with finances, she spends her time cheering on her children at their sporting events, practicing yoga, and traveling.
